Abibi was featured in the Charlotte Observer!

This past week, you may have read an article in the Charlotte Observer's style section on aprons and their history/revival/etc. You may have also seen my picture or a picture of an Abibi creation! This was kind of a big deal and I'm so excited to have had the opportunity to be a part of the article! You can read it yourself, online HERE!

Butcher Aprons Work For Men Too!

My dad is the chef in my family. Or at least he was when I was growing up  because my mom managed a couple of restaurants and so that meant that my dad was the one cooking for us every night. If you asked him what was for dinner his general response was "you'll love it", which usually meant that it was something that I wasn't really a big fan of but that's ok! I grew to love most foods and my dad's adventurous home cooking taught me how to be creative and improvise in the kitchen! Although I still maintain that "tuna fish pasta" is gross (canned tuna in pasta sauce - ick).
Anyway, I made him an apron for his birthday back in August and over the Thanksgiving holiday, I was able to snap a photo of him wearing it. Seriously, how adorable is my dad?

It's camo because he's a hunter... and a business man. We used to call him a "Hick-in-Hiding", however since he and my mom have moved out to the country, I guess he's no longer hiding!

**Finding 'manly' fabrics is super hard so if you're looking for one for the awesome man/chef in your life, let me know a good amount of time in advance. It took me months to find this fabric for my dad and I haven't seen it since!**

I spy...

I spy Abibi!
So this article is about a week old but I didn't post it before! You can watch the whole news story here!
It's a great newscast about shopping small and making a big impact on your community!
There really is something for everyone at The Boulevard! I picked up a few gifts there last night :-)

Also, I got a few copies of the Creative Loafing that I was featured in and once my husband is done tinkering with the desktop computer, I'll be able to scan it and share with all of you! Keep your eyes peeled :-)

New Style!

Hello Abibi Friends! Today I got ambitious and designed a whole new style half apron! It's really simple and I love it! I feel like this one could appeal to ALL of the "Kitchen-istas" out there! Here are the first two fresh off the presses  ;-)

Oh! And check it out, 100% reversible!!

Well, that's the news to start off December!

Tomorrow is the last South End Gallery Crawl of 2011! Come play from 6-9 and check out what Charlotte has to offer!

Published?! So surreal!

A few weeks ago, I received an email from someone I'd never met (Kimberly Lawson) asking if she could interview me for an article she was writing for Creative Loafing Charlotte Magazine. She had found me on Etsy and was compiling a "Holiday Chic" gift guide. The best part is she wanted to have all of the suggestions be local Charlotte items! I was thrilled! After being awkward during the phone interview (I actually apologized for being a rambler but I just can't shut up when I'm nervous), I was (im)patiently awaiting the release of the "gift guide"! So TECHNICALLY this comes out in print tomorrow but it's out on the web today! You can read the article HERE. I am so lucky to be counted amongst so many awesome things. I honestly can't believe it!
I'm going to try to find myself a copy (or two) of the magazine tomorrow. I'll scan it and post it here so you can all enjoy seeing Abibi in print!

Oh, and because pictures are fun, this is the one they included in the article!

She told me on the phone how much she loved the ruffled styles!

Well, I'm just as happy as can be! I hope you all have a great holiday! I sure have a lot to be thankful for this year :-)

Welcome!

Hello there friends! This blog will be devoted to all things Abibi! Inspired by my recent endeavor to join The Boulevard at South End, I'm trying to branch out and keep you all updated with what's going on with Abibi. Hopefully more big things in the future for me to post about!
For now, I'll give you a glimpse at Abibi at The Boulevard! (thanks to the always amazing Uriah Baet for the photos!)

Almost done setting up at The Boulevard!

Potholders to match the aprons! I'm in love with my Xmas prints!

Abibi display on "Friends and Family Night" (and after a few sales)!

Hopefully if you're in the Charlotte area, you'll get the chance to stop into the store! There really is something for everyone and it's open 7 days a week!
